Raymond's Run

A.- Summarize the events. (Write the plot in a cause effect sequence)

Title: Raymond's Run
Author: Tony Cade Bambara
Characters: Squeaky, Raymond, Gretchen, George
setting:
Squeaky & Raymond's neighborhood in New York

Beggining: Squeky was an african girl and the fastest girl of her neightborhood, that's why they call her "Squeaky". She has a brother name Raymond, who was disabled and need a lot of attention. Squeaky take care of his brother because in the family, everyone has something to do. Squeaky likes to run a lot and in the neightborhood there was going to be a race. Her main rival was a girl name Gretchen who is always saying bad thingsds of Raymond. That's one of the reasons Squeaky want to win the race.

Middle: Gretchen and Squeaky were always fighting. Squeaky have to take care of her brother all the time, that is why she doesn't have a lot of time to make friends. She feel very good while she's running on a race. The race start, and Raymond was running too, he always run while her sister Squeaky is running.

End: Raymond was runinng in his own style, i mean different from the others. When they finish the race, Squeaky start thinking that she won't win the race because there was a lot of confusion about the winner's name, that's why she start thinking that she can be her brother's coach, and that she will teach him to be a good runner. Then they announce the winners, and Squeaky was in first place and Gretchen in second. Squeaky was happy because she won, but she was happiest because her brother run his first race.

B.- Explain the conflict and the attitute toward disabled people presented in the story.

In this story there is a lot of discrimination to the disabled people, in this case Squeaky's brother "Raymond". Gretchen is very bad with Raymond, she critizise him.I think that's horrible because if she had a disabled familiar she wouldn't act this way against Raymond. I think that Raymond need tolerance, respect and love because he is a normal person, just a little bit different.

Before reading the story i predict that it won't finish o a happy ending because the drowings of the eyes of the girl and the boy show me that they were sad or worried, and that prediction come true because at the end of the story they never met.

I predict too, that i will be a love story, and i was right. But i suppose that they will met eachother, but i was wrong, there were just checkouts.
